If the exhaust was able to get water in it,or there was some way it got moisture in that cylinder when it sat,and then you started running it,all of that rust and crud could have scored that cylinder then caused the rod bearing to fail. When you turn a motor off many times it will stop in the same place.Thats why if you have teeth off of your fly wheel,it usually wont crank without turning the motor a little off of the bad place because it stops there almost always. If it sat for 5 years before you ran it,it could have sat many times before and that same cylinder was exposed to water, rust, crud until it ruined it.If water could get in the exhaust, one of the cylinders, number 4 in your case had open valves,or the way it sat was the lowest and had open valves and water got in the combustion chamber and rusted it.Another thing could have been the crud broke a ring,or the motor had a broken ring when whoever quit using it.Maybe carbon built up from burning oil or a bad valve guide letting oil in carboned up the top of the piston breaking a ring ruining that cylinder.
