One thang about the C6 (BTDT) the output shaft that drives the speed-O gear is different are lets say they do not use the same output shaft in all C6 trans,,, get the wrong out put shaft and you will never B able to calibrate the speedometer
Unlike some trans the splines are machined on to the output rear shaft,,, its possible a good trans shop are junk yard could tell ya what C6 you would need
More I think about it the carb will need to changed also for (most autos need a throttle pressure rod),,, more than likely the one you have does not have a provision for it.
A 80's 300 fuel injected engine with a AOD would make for a nice swap (lot of work but worth it) still need a parts truck
I never cared for the carburated 300 6's,,, The EFI 300 is EZ'er than most think to work on. The EFI 300 6 models with a standard trans with overdrive were rite good on gas.
