Been too many years, but 4H had a class where you could legally drive a tractor on public roads at 12.5 years plus one day if I remember right.
Seems like it was 13 years for a learner permit, with school permit issued at 14 years. School permit required DIRECT line of travel from home to school, no exception even to deviate for gasoline. Mom and Dad had to keep the car gassed up if you weren't lucky enough to have tax paid gas on the farm, which we did. 3 fuel tanks, one for tractor gas, one for tax paid, one for diesel.
At harvest, the county law basically looked the other way when the farm kids were hauling grain to town, but one state trooper was a real stickler for of age. We knew the road he patrolled, so I always took the long way to town. DOUG

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
