When I was a kid in Kansas our barn had become over run by rats. Rat bait really didn't phase them too much because there was so much grain and feed around for them to eat. After a dry spell we found some were drowning in the water tank over night. We took the hint and my Dad bought some liqud rat poison that we put in gallon chicken waterers. They drank 3 to 4 gallons a night for 2 nights then it tapered off. Never saw another rat there. Tried it again a couple of years later in the chicken house and couldn't find the liqud posion anywhere.
