Well, sometimes there are a few deals out there. I"ve been needing a small hay rake for awhile, and I got tired of always having to beg, borrow and steal. So I went on the hunt. Found a New Holland 56 only about 2 miles from where I work. It was sitting out in a barnlot in tall grass and weeds. I just stopped in and asked the gentleman if he would ever want to sell it. He told me he sold all his cows last year and would be glad to sell it. When we looked at it, the two tires were shot, hardly any paint on it, and seal out of gearbox on lower PTO shaft. Anyway, I asked what he wanted for it, and he said scrap metal price...how about $100. I bought it, slowly limped it home, put new tires on it, gun greased the gearbox, wire wheeled the whole thing, new paint and decals. That was last Wednesday AM at 9:00. I had it done and in the field by Saturday at 10:00AM. Total cost to me: Rake-100 Tires-90 Decals-40 Paint-leftovers Total cost $230. The gearbox ran cool and quiet and the rake ran smooth as glass, and picked up all the hay. I"m a happy camper! I"ll try and post a picture

Today's Featured Article - 12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
