Karl: You helped me with a question posted on this board a while back, hope I can return the favor. I thank Clooney (a frequent poster with help on this site) for this suggestion. I just went through this 3 weeks ago on my JD Model AW (1949) and I hope your B has the same configuration -- regards oil plug. Went to drain oil looked at plug and there was no nice square nut on top of plug -- just a rounded mass of metal. Tried "screw removers "(little and Big)--only managed to put large hole in center of plug (oil did not come out even with a half-inch hole through plug until I pulled out about a half gallon of goop that was the consistence of "Silly Putty"but that's another story). After oil drains, and hole big enough clean through the oil plug, take a hacksaw blade and and make (top to bottom) cuts around the circumfrence of the plug(sort of like oblong pie slices) . ONLY CUT THROUGH UNTIL YOU CONTACT THE THREADS -- NOT THROUGH THREADS. Then take a very small chisel (I found a 3/8 ths incher at True Value Hardware store) and CAREFULLY work at or near the cuts in the old oil plug until one of the sections comes out. The rest will come out a lot easier. It took me about 3 hours total, but it did come out and the replacement plug went in normally and DID NOT LEAK. I hope this helps. P.S. my plug was not stripped but was it was "gorilla-ed" in way past flush and would not budge with biggest vice-grips and 2-foot pipe lever. Bill
