Sh%$t! I think it has to be in nuetral or forward to drop down further. The shift rod is connected also at the top and when you shift it into forward or nuetral, it drops down far enough to get on of the connector bolts out. For course you can shift it and I can't remember how it's connected at the top. You'll have to disconnect it at the top. Did you see if the throttle is in idle speed and then shift? It's late now but if you want to wait til tomorrow, I'll check my motors and get see what I can see. I'll be busy most of the day but free in the evening. I'd get that puppy apart. Also, look at the power head area and you'll see how that linkage is connected, some thing could be messed up there where you might have to just jiggle something. Tomorrow, start a new thread cause this will disappear into page 2-3.
