If Fiat can make good vehicles with desirable features under the Chrysler name, then I will buy them. So will other people I'm sure.
It's foolish to base buying decisions on loyalty to the manufacturer's home country. Nothing is made in America anymore. Some components and maybe assembly are, but modern manufacturing is global and has been for decades. I had a Chrysler-built truck in the 1980's that was Hecho in Mexico. Heck, some JD 4020's were too.
Chrysler and GM's biggest downfall was their very poor decisions in their new vehicle lines. $4/gallon gas plus 14 MPG vehicles equals devastation.
With the bankruptcy, I thought maybe I would check out a Jeep Wrangler to use for commuting now that the prices will surely be clearance-level. It went like this: "Hmm, where is the 4 cylinder model.... Looks like only one engine... 6 cylinder.... 14MPG?!.... I can get 11MPG with my F-350 with a 7.5L!!!" Complete and utter failure in my opinion.
