Life after oven cleaner....

I have listened to this message board about using oven cleaner and a power washer on my greasy old tractor engine. I got more grease off in one use than in 12 hours of hand washing and srapping. Now I have parts that are grease free, but have pitted marks and in some high use spots, surface rust in patches. I found some rust converting primer(it says it chemically coverts rust to a primer- Quality Farm & Fleet). It is very expensive at 5.00/spray can. Are there any suggestions on where do I go from here?
