Simple engineering: Picture a line from the center of each tire to the next. On the row crop this forms a near triangle (point at the front), on the utilities it forms a box with the front length slightly smaller than the back. If a vertical line through the tractor's center of gravity (this includes the weight in the loader) is within this triangle or box, it will never tip. If not, over you go. By adding weight to the front (with a loader) you shift the CG forward, closer to the point of the triangle. Danger. If you are on a slope, the line through the CG is move closer to the side. More danger. If the loader is high, the CG is higher, and the vertical line has a greater chance to move outside the box or triangle. Most dangerous. Moral: Add weight to the back of the tractor, keeping the CG back closer to the wide rear tires. Keep load as low as possible. Stay away from slopes.
