It just might be that that nice "high speed connection" is part of the trouble. Many of the internet cable/ modem/ router/ LAN systems radiate horridly, and in the case of my "ex" router, the power supply was just incredibly noisy.
On a side note might be your computer itself. Ya know that nice, cool, amber/ purple window you painstakenly installed so your 'puter looked "cool?" Or maybe you just have a junker that you never quite got the case back on correctly, or left out a few of the block off plates in the slots? Well, you have a noise generator there. It's radiating crap all over the AM and low SW spectrum.
I'm not well off, and cannot afford large property, and live in a "close in" town neighborhood, chock full of overhead power/ cable/ telco lines down the alley. I can no longer operate much on 160M amateur band (about 2 mhz) because of local RF noise. Most of the time 80/75M (3.5-4mhz) is nearly as bad.
