Funny you asked, yesterday (the 25th) was our 32nd anniversary. Here is what has worked and worked well for us. We were qutie young when we married. I was a few days shy of turning 22, she was 18. We dated for 2 years. That seemed to help us get to know each other. She wanted children right away, I said it was better to wait a while. We practiced for 7 years, and our first was born. Then we practice another 5 years and our second was born. It's amazing how your attention goes to the kids and not to each other when you have them, that is one reason we have lasted this long, because we had time to ourselves. We really go to know each other, be it good or bad those first 7 years. Both boys are now gone, one is married and has produced us two lovely grandchildren already and the other will start his third year of college this fall. So here we are, getting to know each other again. It's all give and take in a marriage. You give some, you take some. And the practice must take place from both parties. Tell him to remember one thing, be in love and stay in love. Best wishes to them both for a long and happy life together.
