Yep who had the bright idea to make manifolds that way? The high temp anti seize and collar shield are good ideas. If threads are rusted and rotted out it will never stay tight so on those I've fixed some permanently on Wisconsin and Continental engines by welding a short pipe nipple in with nickel rod then sleeve the muffler over that and clamp it. Stuff some steel wool in hole you can pull back out after welding it so sparks and slag don't get down in engine.
