Allan, sounds like your darn lucky your not soaking that engine in wonder juice trying to free it! My experence with water in a gassers cylinders is it rusts things up pretty fast. Sealers are not going to work because of the heat. Best thing would be get a new USA made pipe and crank it in tight as you can then weld it with the nickel rod. Your not ever going to need to remove it anyways.
