Walt: Similar to the Flying Belgain, I have heard of these PTO's stopping and 10 min later it worked, and I've heard it more than once. Never had it happen, and I probably put 30,000 hours on this type of PTO.
My luck was, they started slipping very little after about 8,000 hours. The slipage was so gradual and so slight one didn't notice it at the implement, but it did burn hell out of the clutch pack. One could check pressure yearly, yet 8,000 hours seemed to be the limit. As I recall clutch pack wasn't that expensive, good technician and accurate pressure test was most important and about 80% of the cost.
