I just pulled a PTO off a Farmall A to use on my 140. Of course after I did that I found it won"t work because the A"s outer sleeve and probably something else is not the same as the 140. I put a back plate on the A and refilled with oil. Anyway, the problem now is that without the PTO in there, the A grinds it"s gears and won"t go in gear. I am not sure if this problem was there before I took the PtO off or not. I guess I am wondering if the PTO has to be on the A for it to shift properly. Don"t see why but can that be what is going on here? I don"t see how I could have done any damage by just pulling the PTO off. -John
