Been hot and dry here. The silage corn I mentioned a week or 2 ago is showing signs of drouth stress. One field that was planted early, well on time really, probably has the ears filled out enough to be called a crop. Corn planted later has good height, has mostly tasseled, but has not all put on ears. I'm sure they will cut it for silage, but it won't have as much food value without the ears. That area has GOOD coastal bermuda hay cut, but then the rainy weather earlier kept them from cutting it earlier.
My fescue and other grass hay is cut and baled without being washed. Had to replace bent shaft in Vermeer baler, about $250 all together, plus a couple of days work.
Had sweet corn on the cob today for dinner, out of the garden.
