Some people count sheep to calm down to go to sleep. I have been told it helps although I have not done that. When burdens start to pile up I give them up to Jesus in prayer and then start to count blessings and make a choice not to let my mind go back to the burdens. Works for me.
When I make a list of my problems on one side of the page and on the other list my blessings I come to the end of my problems long before I get to the bottom of the page but I give up trying to stop finding more blessings to list.
One thing to remember the end of life does end our earthly problems but it also ends the earthly blessings. More Grand kids and Great Grand kids just to list two very important ones. The smile on a sad face when greated with a kind word and a smile from you. This is something you or anyone can do even when we feel sad ourselves. When that frown changes to a smile it instantly makes you feel good.
