Not all saplings are the same. When the hardwood saplings are getting up around an inch , they can be rugged little things. You should be able to go over a single hardwood sapling with out any problems. Where as the soft wood saplings , 2 inches and not have any problems. When the saplings are in clumps , it can be abusive on the machinery of your size. Watch out for chunks flying out from under the mower. I where safty glasses while doing any mowing. And "YES" , you can get flat tires from the stubble. Be carefull where and how you drive. I once even put a stick through one of my back tires while traveling the well traveled road way into the woods. When the tire came around , It had a stick about 3/4" in diameter , and 14" long , sticking strait up out of the tire. I can go on and on , but I have to go make money.
