Perhaps Bat houses outside the barn (actually on the side of the barn). Then eliminate the nooks and crannies they are hiding from the light in.
Bats are great to have around and eat their weight in bugs and insects. The mess is really what you want to eliminate. The scent of the waste is what is drawing in so many. They return to that. Perhaps also check with a local college. Many have experts in the ag departments on such animals and they might be able to suggest other options for getting them into the bat houses and out of the barn. If you can build/ buy bat housing and they move into them, you would have the benefit of the bats eating the bugs and not have the mess in the barn- everyone wins. If you need help finding someone, let me know where you are and what college you are close to, and I will help all I can. Good luck.
