Keith, We need more information to diagnose your problem. Gas or diesel? If gas make sure fuel, spark and air is getting to cylinders. Go back to basics. Check for spark through the plugs. Check compression to be sure valves and pistons are OK. If diesel bleed injectors and make sure fuel is coming from each when fittings are loosened. Sometimes an engine will almost run or even for a short while but won't take a load. If so, the cam has jumped 1 tooth on timing gear. Often if an engine runs and dies, a fuel filter problem may exist. Make sure fuel delivery is OK. Ken McWilliams Dayton,OH
