Mike,

Bubbles are indicative of something volatile under the paint wanting to escape. Perhaps the primer is not yet dried.

First, if you have done some patching, the solvents may be wanting to escape from the filler.

Second, using a water borne latex this time of year, the paint will skin over due to low humidity. Then, the paint under the skinned over area will volatilize and cause blistering.

You may want to roll it out a little thinner, and use multiple coats.

Third, porosity in the wall may be causing a problem. Trapped air wanting to escape through the new paint layer.

Fourth, a slim chance, but if rolling on too fast may be trapping air. Roll the area very well when applying paint before going on to the next area of application.

Fifth, if you used a solvent to wash down the wall before painting, the solvent now is being released and causing bubbles.

Sixth, if you are directing some heat toward the wall, the paint will skin over too fast before the paint under it has a chance to lose its volatile vehicle (solvent).

Take your time. Forget tractors for a while until the paint job is finished. Gotta make the wife happy and buy some tractor time from her.

Unfortunately, most of the help at the stores are nothing more than warm bodies to man the cash register.
