It may be a replacement engine or power unit from a pump, combine, etc., etc..
Check out John Smith's site for "help identify" to identify the TRACTOR.
(There are casting date codes on the bottom of the hydraulic pump, axle "trumpets" and other castings that will help narrow date the build date. The parts probably were cast between a few weeks and up to a year before they were machined and assembled into a finished tractor.)
