At least my granddad did not have Altzhimers, (spelling error) he was totally coherent up till the last few hours.
I went to see him in the hospital the first week of June. I talked with him for a 1/2 hour or so. We talked about the great depression and he was shocked an stupified that GM was in bankruptcy. We also talked about WW2 and the banks in the 1930's. Lots or history with him, His parents, my great grandparents did okay in the great depression as they owned a small farm and had jobs then. My great grandfather worked for a Nash motor car factory in the 20's and 30's and in WW2 it became a factory that made airplanes or plane parts, not sure.
I did get to see him a lot when I was a kid, (talking grandfather) probably 1 time a month. (then less as I get older) and then the last 10 years it was holidays and few birthday and stuff, about 4 times per year.
