Is the tooth in front or more toward the back? If it's in the front there's some cosmetic value to it. If it's in the back it might not be needed unless a few more are gone, but that's a personal preference that's up to you alone.
I had jaw pain from a dead tooth a month ago. When the dentist gave me the option of root canal or jerk it, it took me about a second to make up my mind. I told him to jerk it! Cost me $250. I went through one root canal a few years ago and that was enough. My insurance doesn't cover dental.
Then he was quoting $850 to put a new tooth back in. I said 'no thank you'. This tooth was in the back so the gap can't be seen.Jim
