I was only at my first job (machine shop) and I was in back grinding burrs off of some small gears we were making for Arctic Cat 4 wheelers. To get the burrs off, the easiest wasy was to have a small shatf in your hand (with a glove on) and a washer over your hand, then the gear, and then another washer/plate to hold it on the shaft and control how fats it spun.
Then you stick your fist through the belts on the belt sander and hold the gear against the belt. I must have stuck my pinky out and the glove got caught between the belt and the pulley on the sander. Ripped the pinky right off my leather work glove. I honestly don't know if my pinky made the trip around the pulley or not. It all happened so fast all I could do was stare where the pinky on the glove used to be and make sure mine was still there.
7 years later, I'm still alive and have all of my limbs. Do have a few scars though.
