Remove No1 spakplug near rhe radiator and bring that piston to TDC on the compression stroke. Hold your thumb over the plug hole while a helper hand cranks the engine until you feel compression against your thumb. Take a LARGE handle screwdriver & drop it on top of the piston & have the helper to keep slowly cranking the engine while you watch the screwdriver rise. When it quits rising your timing marks should be aligned & both valves should be closed on that cylinder.
Remove distributor cap & see where the rotor is pointing. Should be at the No1 plug tower which is around 2 o'clock. If it's off you need to pull the distributor off the engine & turn the rotor to the No1 plug tower & reinstall it. Your firing order is like this on the cap as it rotates CW: Hal 2-1 4-3
