Buy a 3pth log splitter already built, It saves alot of headache, and its alot cheaper compared to building your own, we priced building one vrs buying one, Needless to say we bought one, One thing to consider is when buying or building, is to have some sort of saftly device built into the spool valve. IT should automaticly return the cylinder when fully extended. When the cylinder is fully extended Don't have the wedge pressed all the way up to the end of the splitter, leave a 1/2 in of space. Could mean the diffrence between fingers or no fingers. An lastly get a spool valve that when you press the lever to retract the cylinder it locks the lever on, so u can put an other log on the splitter with out having to hold the lever, SAves heaps of time, Happy splitting.

I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
