If it misses when you rev it up try pulling the choke out a little then see if it misses when you rev it up. If this keeps it from missing then you're running too lean.
If the choke has no effect your mechanical timing advance may not be working or put a new set of plugs in it. My dad use to buy fuel from Farm Service and our Farmall H would not run on their gas. We had to buy some octane boost from walmart and add it to the tractor's gas tank. This took care of it missing. The plugs would look fine but they would have a film on them that could be blasted off but that wouldn't last long. I have seen the same thing in air cooled engines.
When ever you pull a vacum it lowers the temp, just the opposite happens when you compress air it gets hot.
