You guys are all getting your facts confused. The horror stories abound about the 1010 and 2010 diesels but the gas versions of those tractors used the same engines as the 40 and 45 combines and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the gas engines. I have had combines with the 115, 145 and 165 gas engines and they were completely reliable. A big issue with the tractors was very poorly designed brakes, they could never be counted on. The trannys share a good deal of common parts with the 420/430 and for the horse of that engine, the trannys lasted just fine. Alot would depend on the tractor shape but if both the tractor and loader were in good shape, a 1010 gas would not scare me away in the slightest if I was in need of a tractor that size.
