Bryan in Iowa said: (quoted from post at 00:30:04 07/23/09) Had tire blow out on I 80 sat pm . Pulling trailer , no warning ,,Blew ! big time , ripped out box braces , trailer wiring, brake lines! Lot of Pucker factor on that one . Of course it was drivers side , lot of fun changing on busy interstate . 3rd Bridgestone I had do this load range E . Last one of the set is going out for target practice , it will never see the road again !
I run the best tire for trailers (Michelin LTX load range E) and still have blowouts. A couple weeks ago I was pulling a 15k tractor in 110 degree heat and this lady was holding her car next to my trailer on the interstate.
I was just thinking that a tire could go any minute and then all of a sudden a big "BOOM". She nearly took out the guard rail on her side. At least she caught back up to my truck and said "Mister, you had a explosion under your trailer". I told her I would check on it. :)
