I agree with Clooney's comment about the humidity. Here in Wisconsin, I have 1-2 months each spring and fall when the ceiling drips condensation all over the contents of my 40' X 60' pole barn. I usually leave the big doors open to reduce the condensation, but it still is a problem. The condensation occurs when there is a temperature difference between the inside air and the steel on the roof. I did not put a vapor barrier down before putting down the limestone - I now wish I had! I have had some luck with stapling sheet plastic to the trusses above my hay storage area. The insulating space of dead air helps to reduce dripping on the hay, but birds sometimes get in there. Insulation is a way to go, but, the birds and mice can really tear it up and build nests. If I could do it over again, I would put down some type of vapor barrier in the ground to prevent the wicking action of the soil. Good luck.
