Nice to see someone asking this question. The only places I'm familiar with are either "no pay" or the exhibitor "must pay" the show to display. This applies to auto shows too. If I had something of show quality, (which I don't) I wouldn't bring it out if I had to pay to display it! Those who fix up old stuff for show or near-show quality usually have spent a lot of money in the process and to expect them to pay yet besides to display it are expecting too much. What a nice idea you have to think about paying the exhibitors! Keep going with that idea.
