I had never been around a helicopter that did spraying untill today. This time of the year alot of fungicide and insecticides are applied to corn and beans with airplanes. Today the local Helena plant we work with had this helicpter from Alabama come in to do so spraying of different products in strips on a 120 acre field to do some comparisons. Three different products, Quilt, Headline and something new then a test strip with no application at all.
Its a pretty slick operation, land on the truck, put the mix in the tank and away he goes.
It seemed slower than the plane but maybe that was because they were changing products all the time. I noticed on last friday I was spraying herbicide on the ground with the tractor and sprayer when the local aerial applicator showed up to spray the other half of the 160 I was in with Quilt. He sprayed the entire 80 of corn while I made 2 and a half rounds so they can really cover the acres. Something new everyday. Wrigley says "hey!" bill
