35 HP will run a square baler. If you hook a wagon behind it and load it good you might want 40-45 HP, especially if you are going up or down any substantial grades. I've run a 273 NH for years with a 3000 Ford, 39HP, and got into trouble only once on a very steep slope. Going down with a full load is a no-no and going up you need a bit of a tug. Otherwise things went great.
