Aw Herbert, Rick Deere is just teasing you to compensate for the fact that Deere is the Rube Goldberg champion of tractor starting systems. (IE an electric starter to start a little gasoline engine, which IF it starts, then cranks the two popper diesel, or more recently a 24V system that eats a set of batteries every year and cannot support a 10 amp 12V accessory load.) ;-)
You likely have a slightly damaged ring gear and or starter drive in your Ford that allows the starter to jam in the ring gear. You can most often free up a stuck starter by putting the tractor in it's highest gear with the clutch engaged. Rock the tractor rearward by pushing on the front of a rear tire, to turn the engine backwards just a bit to unlock the starter, no need to unbolt it. This is a quick fix for any tractor that uses an inertia starter drive.
