Whether buying or selling, I always like to see the seller come up with a starting price. Recently I had an extra tractor (JD 4430) to sell, downsizing after getting out of livestock and full-time farming. Fixed everything I knew was wrong, had a 29 year history on it, new rubber, many extras, etc. Advertised it in May for 14 grand, had a guy interested in it for several months, offered it to him for 13,200. Told him the ads go back in, asking 14...asking means I"m willing to deal, versus 14 firm, means there is no dickering. New buyer comes today, sold it for 12,500. Always good for the seller to set at least a starting price. Buyer and son drove it home today, 140 miles, we are both happy with the deal.
