Hard Starting? Do as Z-bar has described. You need a minimum of 2 guage battery cables, and 1/0 are better (and keep them as short as possible). Make sure that ALL electrical connections are clean, bright and tight. Do you have 12 volt automotive 'carbon fillament resistor' type spark plug wires? Get rid of them and get a quality set of copper core wires. They are marketed to 'hot-rod' enthusiasts. Replace your spark plugs while you are at it, even if they look good, and make sure that the gap is correct. If you are flooding that easy, your carb float may not be closing correctly. It may be the seat, or the float may not be floating (have a hole etc.) or the needle may have a piece of grit lodged on it, or it may just not be adjusted to the right height. Rebuild kits for the Marvel-Schebler TSX carbs run from $10-$30 depending how 'complete' they are. Definately try different starting patterns. My 6-volt 8N will start all summer without any choke at dead idle, but in the winter she wants 1/4 throttle and about 1 second of choke. So far she starts down to 15 degrees and always within 2 turns...
