These engines typically start very easy. You probably should give it a good tune up to be sure the wires, plugs, points, cap, and rotor are in good shape. I've had several "N" Fords the last few years. I don't even mess with them at 6 volts. A GM alternator, 12 battery, and ballast resistor in the hot wire going to the coil and I'm in business. If I need lights, I'll buy the rubber mounted BAJA universal type lights and mount them. These engines will start as fast as your "H" if all things are OK. You mentioned flooding occassionally. This is a hint that something isn't right. Be sure the float is set right. Also, if you don't turn off the gas shut-off valve when not in use, will the carburetor drip gas? If so, fix the float needle and seat to seal better. One of my tractors will easily flood. It's because the float needle doesn't shut off competely. Rather than fix it, I shut off the fuel valve and let the engine run a little to use the gas in the bowl then shut it off. Next time I use it, turn on the gas and it will start immediately. If I don't do it, the engine will flood the next time after a day or more of no use. KRM
