No, the hole isn't threaded - but anyways, I took the carb over to my neighbour and he figured it out. Anyways, the brass at the bottom of the hole is a brass PLUG (not a jet or an orifice) and the hole is actually one of the larger holes that are drilled so that other smaller drills (for drilling the various channels within the casting) can be used. After the small hole is drilled, the large access hole is plugged up. He showed me a number of other locations on the carb where these brass plugs are, only they are at the surface of the casting, not deep inside the larger hole. Interesting stuff those carbs.
