When I was a kid of about 12 [ 1949] we were shelling corn and a "Rat" ran up my pants leg. Long story short. He bit me 5 times before my cousin got my belt loose and dropped my pants. The rat took off running but never made it far. 3, #12 scoops got him in mid air. He bit me in the belly for ones wondering. I spent 3 days in the Hospital for observation and as the rat tested negative for Rabies I was released. Used to make fun of an old man who helped us when he put a big rubber band around each of his pants cuffs. Never did after that expeirience.
