On a FM-X4 mag the fiber dist rotor gear won"t jump a tooth in the mag but it could shear some teeth off or the fiber gear could turn on that shaft. I have seldom seen the gear turn on the shaft look closely if that"s what you are talking about it probably has teeth sheared off. Internal engine gears you have teeth stripped off, keyway tore out or a broken cam shaft it didn"t jump a tooth internally without something being way worn out or broke inside. Instructions link below is for timing a FM J mag but same applies for a X mag but the gear is mounted on breaker bearing bracket instead of the cover cap and you align the "C" mark up with a mark or beveled tooth on the metal inside the mag for CW drive mag on AC engine.
