With respect to jimmyzz, I don't know about just replacing the seal. Seems to me that if it's leaking around the bottom cover plate, just putting in a new shaft seal won't do much for it. I bought a salvage hand pump for my 574 a few years back when mine let go. First one spewed fluid everywhere as soon as the engine was started. The salvager made it good, sent me another one, even reimbursed me for the return shipping (he was too far away to drive it). That one lasted about 8 months before it let go. No warranty on the used one after 3 months, so I just went to CaseIH and got one. It's been OK ever since, but it sure wasn't cheap! If you get one from the dealer, you'll spend some more money but probably not have to mess with it again for a long time. If you get one at a salvage yard, well, hydraulic stuff is a little ticklish in how it responds to sitting unused for a long time, either on a shelf or out in the weather. You might get a good one that will last the life of the tractor, or you might have an experience similar to mine. Like the man says, "ye pays yer money an' ye takes yer chance." Best of luck. Denny
