The police are a cross section of our society. There are good cops, bad cops, and crooked cops. I own a auto repair shop. I can say that there are good repair shops, bad repair shops, and crooked repair shops. Recently I was pulled over by the Oregon State Police. They said that I had a brake light out on my car trailer. Even though everything was in order, the stop was simply scearey. The officer was looking for trouble, but I refused to be provoked. On the other hand, a few years ago, I was stopped to make a left hand turn on my motorcycle, a seventeen year old girl was changing a cd and hit me doing about thirty miles an hour. All of the emergency people were outstanding. The emts, the OSP, the volunteer firemen, the sheriff deputy were the best. My point is that one should not make blanket statements about police. It is disturbing to see that the local police are becoming increasingly millitarised, courtesy of federal policy.
