This is an antique tractor forum, have you given any thought to buying an older tractor? They are built so heavily that you would be hard pressed to ruin one doing the things you mention. I'm not a huge fan of the fords(because they're a dime a dozen) but I think An 8N is just what you need. You should be able to find a restored, NOT JUST REPAINTED, 8N or NAA for 2500 to 3000.The problem is that casting iron is an environmentally nasty business and it is done in third world contries that would shoot Al Gore on sight.Tractors of the past, Built on American soil buy skilled American laborers will prevail over these other makes even after 40 or more years of service. Thats my two cents and it's also the truth.

Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned.
