Opertaion-wise, I need two balers in peak season. So.... why not have two balers exactly the same.
As to backups. 5 tractors all 76/77 series Fords. Not only for back up but as a source of parts after hours and on weekends. Balers, pair of NH 650's. I used to run a 650 and an 851. It hit me one day how dumb that was, when I had a part broken on each (not the same part) and was stuck. Mowers, NI 5408's.
Square baler is backed up with the round baler. Tedders, one 8 foot and one 18 foot. Rakes, 2 bar rakes and one 9 wheel inline.
