Good point about using an rpm limiter. Suppose I could also physically prevent throttle valve on carb from going to wide open by use of some kind of stop. RPM limiter would be safer though. As to tractors using belt governors. Beleive there was an old Massey Harris with a Chrysler flat head six. Also have a friend that has a somewhat rare Japanese tractor from 1980's with gas engine. It uses belt driven governor. Bison or Buffalo or some such name. Think just about all imported Japanese tractors were diesel or at least 90+% And of course I am very familiar with walk behind Gravely. They originally came without a governor although a belt governor was optional. I didnt know this when I bought my first one figuring governor was built into the Gravely small engine as it is on most small engines. Well one I bought of course didnt have a governor. What a handfull trying to keep it either from bogging down or over revving. Needless to say this engine didnt last long.
