Bury the acorn in good soil and keep it moist so as to not starve the plant for moisture. Take a length of 24" chicken wire and shape it into a 16" diameter cylinder to be placed upright around the acorn cite. Stake it to the ground, and close up the top end so that the squirrels and the deer can't get at it. This will get it started. Later on, use a larger "cage".
