Two fire trucks parked on the ramp discharged an "X" over the airplane as it taxied between them. Then when the vets deplaned, it was pandemonium. A band was playing but could barely be heard above the cheers and handclaps, flags were waved, and I doubt there were very many dry eyes in the area. Mine weren't.
My wife and I had to board our plane, but it was reassuring to know at least part of "my" America still exists!
