I"ve been wanting to plant some Eastern Red Cedars (Juniperi-Virginianae) in my yard. After doing some research on these trees I discovered that there is a fungi (known as apple rust) which originates on the Cedars which is harmful to apple trees and their fruit.
I also want to plant an apple tree. I don"t want to have problems with my tree or the neighbor"s. Is this disease widespread ? I live in Zone 3 (cold). Should I pick another species ?
